Abstract:

The corrosion inhibition potential and efficacy of 2-hydropyrimidine-2-thione derivative on mildsteel in 0.5 M sulfuric acid solution was investigated using electrochemical polarization and FTIRspectroscopic techniques. In addition, docking studies were carried out as theoretical investigationof adsorption inhibitor on iron surface. The results of polarization studies indicate the exceptionallystrong efficiency of this compound as an inhibitor in H2SO4 solution. The electrochemical studies toelucidate the mechanism indicated adsorption obeying the Langmuir isotherm to be the main modeof action. The FTIR results indicated the presence of inhibitor molecules to formation protectivelayer on the surface of mild steel. Theoretical findings show that the most stable states ofcompound/iron system are via the molecular sites containing S atoms, ester groups and aromaticrings.

Synergistic Influence of Benzoate Ions on Inhibition of Corrosion of Mild Steel in 0.5m Sulfuric Acid by Benzotriazole

The influence of benzoate anions on the corrosion inhibition effect of benzotriazole (BTA) for mild steel in sulfuric acid has been investigated. The investigation was carried out by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and potentiodynamic polarization techniques. The addition of benzoate ions greatly enhances the inhibition efficiency of BTA in a synergistic manner. This effect has bee...

Corrosion Inhibition of Mild Steel in Hydrochloric Acid Solution by Amino Acid Complexes

Using the amino acids methionine and serine reduced Schiff base and their copper(II) complexes were synthesized. The inhibition effect of these copper (II) complexes on the corrosion of mild steel in 1 M HCl solution was investigated. The corrosion inhibition action is studied through weight loss method. Among the tested complexes [CuCl(SMet)PPh 3 .H 2 O] exhibited better corrosion inhibition a...
